Even as a child, Usman held an eccentirc belief that sports and technological innovation were the exclusive avenues through which meaningful contributions to society could be made. This childhood conviction has remained with him throughout his life, leading him to pursue a mid-career MPA at the Kennedy School to sharpen his focus on social and public service goals.

Technological Innovation for Economic and Societal Benefit

Usman believes that purposeful Research & Development and Innovation hold the potential to fuel economic prosperity, fortify national security, and significantly enhance citizens' lives. Throughout his career, he has maintained affiliations with innovative companies, actively engaging in the creation of novel products, the commercialization of cutting-edge technologies, and the dissemination of insights on innovation and futurism at Tec de Monterrey University. His role as a Senior Commercial Advisor to DARPA allows him to contribute to bringing advanced technologies to commercial use cases.

Sports as a Catalyst for Social Advancement

In Usman's perspective, sports stand as an effective vehicle for driving economic development and fostering social well-being.

Central to Usman's worldview is the belief that access to sports constitutes a fundamental human right, akin to education and clean water, yet often goes overlooked or underutilized. He staunchly advocates that everyone should have equal opportunities to reap the benefits of its transformative impact. He pursues his mission through advisory role with UNESCO Sports and his involvement with sports technology startups.
