2024 Update and Reflections
Grateful, and Optimistic: A Year-End Reflection on and Update from 2024
As 2024 comes to a close, I am filled with gratitude for a healthy and productive year shared with family, friends, and colleagues. We are fortunate in so many ways, and I never take that for granted.
This year has also brought profound global challenges. The wars in Ukraine and the Middle East, Pakistan’s struggle for democracy and new governance model, and the lack of political clarity in Europe—particularly in larger economies—are deeply concerning. These issues underscore the need for resilience, empathy, and meaningful action to create a more stable and equitable world.
Amid these challenges, I have found hope in technology and innovation. The progress made in 2024, especially in generative AI, strengthens my belief in its transformative potential to address societal and industrial challenges. My interactions with customers, partners, and fieldworkers have reinforced the value of digital tools in creating enduring solutions and tangible benefits. This year, I have also championed the importance of ethical AI, recognizing its power to elevate humanity—or harm it—depending on how responsibly we use it.
At Nemetschek and Bluebeam, our mission remains steadfast: empowering professionals in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry with interoperable, innovative, and delightful experiences. A highlight this year was celebrating the 25th anniversary of Nemetschek’s IPO at Deutsche Börse in Frankfurt, a moment that reaffirmed our commitment to innovation and interoperability.
Professionally, I had the privilege of leading an exceptional, mission-driven global team. I traveled to ten countries, where I engaged with stakeholders and collaborated with Bluebeam leadership and trusted customers to craft our next chapter: Collaboration Elevated. We are excited to bring this vision to life in 2025. This year also saw the successful integration of new talent from GoCanvas and foundational steps for Nevaris’ transition to a subscription-based business. Additionally, I took on expanded responsibilities to grow Nemetschek's global footprint, expanding GTM initiatives such as Key Account Management and High Growth Regions.
On a personal level, my family relocated to Dallas, Texas, where we’ve settled in comfortably. We have longtime allegiance to Dallas Mavericks, Cowboys, the Texas Rangers and Longhorns, so it is an easy sports transition. Splitting my time between Munich and Dallas allowed me to embrace cultural and sporting experiences, from Oktoberfest and the Euro Cup to Wimbledon and the magical German Christmas markets.
To stay grounded and continue growing, I embraced new challenges —exploring latte art, skiing, and learning the German language. These pursuits reminded me of the value of patience, resilience, and the importance of empathy as we navigate the inevitable mistakes that come with learning.
As I look toward 2025, I am filled with optimism and a renewed sense of purpose.
Wishing you all a prosperous, healthy, and peaceful year ahead. Happy New Year!
